I have 1995 T4.3L mercs with twin alpha ones I siphoned the trim fluid from the reservoirs before winterizing. I filled the reservoirs with fresh fluid.
Now the pumps make noise but drives don't move.
Do you have to bleed the lines? If so does anyone know how?

You bleed the system by cycling it or running it up and down.Course in your case it aint workin. Strange that both drives would have the same problem at the same time???Try having someone stand on the drive while your trimming it down. The pistons in the cylinders may be stuck.

I will give that a try, another response said to crack the lines at the shafts and have a helper operate the switches to bleed the lines. I thought they were self bleeding, so I will try your suggestion first. Do you know what year they began making the self bleeding systems?

Your boat is new enough so those lines should purge themselves. even so,.. there are two lines on each cylinder connected to the drive. I would crack each of them one at a time and run the pump to pump all the fluid through and get the air out.
