I have a 1989 125 force with the force style trim system and external pump. Does any body know how many turns, or what what kind of pressure should go on the Allen threaded screw that puts pressure on the ball bearing to the pressure side of valve? It is the only one on mine on the inside and also has a lock nut on it. I know they recommend 30 weight oil in this unit has anybody tried a heavier weight without doing damage to system?

Use a small stainless washer on top of spring so that you can get clean measurement down into the threaded hole using the probe on your caliper. If you don't have a caliper then run to harbor freight and spring $2 for a cheap one.

A static setting of 3/16" compression is usually adequate. Every once in a while you have to take it back apart and adjust, but almost always 3/16" will land you within pressure tolerances. If your original spring is bad then you're fubar'd. You'll never find the correct replacement.

oh, oh, oh. I have an even better idea. Don't take it apart in first place. You won't have the tools for pulling valve seats without damaging them so there probably isn't a darned thing you can do anyway.
