trim won't go up under load

hi can anyone tell me how to sort the trim out as it works triming down but won't trim up when the prop is running i need to stop the engine to trim up ?
any suggestion's?

Check for water in trim pump oil. Also if your oil is thicker than regular trim oil then the pump has to work harder to pump that thicker oil to cylinders. Try draining your oil and add a trim grade oil to your pump. This oil is thinner and passes through the system easier. Also cold temps will make the pump work harder as well. If none of the above works then you may have air in the system. Good luck.

It's best to post the year, make, model, HP rating, and serial # so that everyone knows what engine you are talking about.

I actually have a Mercury trim system on the front end of my '53 Ford truck. I would check the oil level first, when mine gets low it struggles. I think I lose a little fluid from around the shaft seal. Another symptom may be that it starts to drift down after you get it lifted.

Again, that depends on the type of trim/tilt system. Please post the year, make, model, HP rating and Serial # for the most informed responces.
