Can anyone tell me why my trim wants to keep lowering when I trim it up in the water to gain speed. It seems to not hold pressure and it drops very slowly so I have to keep trimming it up.. Could it be that there is air in the system. Any suggestions on how to fix? It was low on oil, and I filled it up. I also tightened where the leak seemed to be. Maybe there is still air and it needs to be bled.

Thanks guys

Re: Trim won't stay up.

Not particularly familiar with Merc but if there is a manual release valve (screw) on the transom bracket for the T/T unit ,it may be slightly open and leaking by.Also if you recently filled the unit with oil it is standard procedure to cycle it several times fully up and down to work any air out of the system.Hope this helps.Maybe a Merc Guru will respond shortly to assist.Good luck.

Re: Trim won't stay up.

Had the seemingly same problem with mine, a 1989 merc 150 blackmax. the tilt motor was shot internally and I had to replace it. It ran me about $550 installed, which I thought was a good deal. I went through the same motions as you, but it turned up to be bad internal seals. Hope it helps, good luck.
