Here are some photos from a trip I took to Egmont Key today.
Egmont Key was a military installation constructed around the time of the Spanish/American war, it was in operation with several large battlements and artillery installations until the early 20th century. There was a Post Office, school, several barracks and living quarters, and even a YMCA. It is now a state park that is accessible only by boat; there is a ferry that departs from Fort Desoto park on the mainland. It is a favorite destination of many local boaters with beautiful aquamarine waters surrounding the white sugary sand.
Hope you enjoy!

I love the lines of this battlement
