Is there some type of gauge that I can attach to my trolling battery or trolling motor that would tell me the state of charge left in the battery? I figure it would help me to know how much longer I could run the trolling motor before the battery died.<br />Stalker

Of course. It’s called a voltmeter. Or, you can get a voltmeter that displays the approx charge status of the bat in something like full, 3/4, 1/2, 1/4, dead. For more money you can get a meter with a micro chip that will monitor the amps coming and going during charging and discharging and do predictive time remaining to ‘dead’ and time remaining to ‘fully charged’.

Ya, mine also, but if you install one, make sure its on a switch as they do draw some amperage and will draw down your trolling battery slowly. The ones on the motors are electronic somehow and only show you the condition after you use it a bit then go off.

I bought an indash battery condition gauge from Bass Pro Shops since it has a wider range for battery condition monitoring than a voltmeter. They have different versions for one and 2 battery systems. I wired in a 3 way switch which allows me to check on condition of both starting dual cell and deep cycle and also has an off position to prevent battery drain. Cost $21.99 +S/H
