Trolling motor help

I am looking at the Minnkota PowerDrive? 40PD V2 Motor , for my 14' mirrocraft. I was just wanting to know do you think 40lbs would be enough thrust and is the 48inch shaft too long for that boat??

40# is very adequate for that boat. You will have no problem even in stout winds.
