trolling motor mount

I have a 14ft 1966 alumacraft, I got a transom mount trolling motor from my father in law, but find that its tough to keep the boat going in a straight line with it mounted back there. is there a preferable way to mount it on the bow?

I tried searching, but I guess I dont know the right key words....

Depengding on the brand, most trolling motors can easily be converted to bow mount. Where the control head mounts to the shaft if there is a bolt remove it, slowly spin head 180* and re-install bolt. As for mounting motor to boat. Just find a spot you can reach from your seat and adapt your mount using a wooden or metal bracket. hth
