I am having trouble removing the mounting plate for my trolling motor. I removed all the screws but the silicone or adhesive they used has the plate not wanting to come off of the bow deck. Any suggestions? I’m afraid to pull to hard on it as I think it may damage the fiberglass. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions

if it was bed down with 5200, you will need 2015 anti-bond or equivalent debonder

then use wood wedges

Yes it’s not clear silicone. It’s white and has the look of 5200. How do I apply the 2015 anti-bond?

Could I possibly use piano wire to slide in between bracket and bow deck?

Welcome to the forum, JLov.

I haven't used the 2015. I don't know about piano wire, but something more flexible to saw between the plate and deck. Maybe picture hanging wire with some wood handles on each end.

Ok thx GA. Yes piano wire is used a lot in that manner. People use it for taking out windshields and for removing badges off of cars. Home Depot has some 16 gauge high carbon steel wire for $4 I’ll get. The wood handles are a great idea tho. Gonna give it a try when I get home from work today. Thanks again

Sure will. Just remembered when I worked at auto glass place years ago we would heat up the wire right before trying to remove the glass. I’ll post how it turns out. Thanks again
