I've got a MotorGuide 45 on my Bass Tracker It is a 12/24 volt. I never use the high speed when on 24 volt. Would I get more fishing time by running the trolling motor on 12 volt high speed and wire the two batteries in parellel, or 24 volt med speed.

Re: Trolling motor question.....

Hi 2001. I believe your efficiency would be about the same. Running two batteries in parallel on 12 volts cuts your amp draw in half. That's good. Using two batteries in series on 24 volts should draw the same number of amps at full speed as the 12 volt setup. So in theory, they should last about the same amount of time. So the question is, which set up gives you more oomph! If you can run the 24 volt set up at a lower speed, then I think that is the way to go. I think that's the whole idea behind having a dual set up in the first place. Good luck. :)
