Trolling Motor Storage

I am planning to purchase a MinnKota Terrova which will be stored outside all year long, including during our Chicago winters. With my last trolling motor, a MotorGuide, the manual recommended the motor be removed each winter to “prevent the motor magnet from freezing and cracking”. Is this precaution really necessary on today’s trolling motors?

Talk to MinnKota. Can't believe that's a problem.

Re: Trolling Motor Storage

My MKs have been stored outdoors in Texas winters and never had a problem.

Check with Minn Kota.
