trolling motor upgrade question

I'm replacing an old motorguide 28 lbs thrust motor with a new Minn Kota 40lbs thrust motor.<br />Is just a matter of me installing the new motor and plug it into the old recepticle and go? or is there more to do?

If the plug fits, use it. If not, you may need an adapter plug or a new recepticle.

The 40# motor will draw more current at high speed than the 28# so the existing circuit breaker (if you have one) may not be up to the task and may have to be changed for one with a higher rating.
