I have searched the forum for a post that told about a quick release and very low profile mount for a trolling motor .I have looked at the motor guide and minn kota and their pontoon mounts are not really a quick release or low profile for what I am looking for ,The one I saw was only and couple of inches tall and had a snap release. Thanks for any infomation you have. Randy

Re: trolling motor

I have a quick release plate from MinnKota on my pontoon. It is the very inexpensive (two aluminum plates that slide together) variety as shown here. It works great and nearly indestructable.

If you are trying to use a transom mount motor on the bow of a pontoon, then your only choice is a pontoon mount that is relatively tall, or else some sort of home made setup.

MKA-21 Quick Release Bracket
Composite

Easily remove your bow-mount motor with these high-yield composite brackets. They?re ultra-strong, corrosion-resistant and feature a low-profile design that leaves the deck clear when the motor is removed. A locking handle with stainless steel pins can be secured with a padlock (not included).

Composite Quick Release Bracket Details
Compatible with any Terrova, PowerDrive V2, PowerDrive or Pontoon Hand Control models.

This is the mount that I used to mount my Min Kota on the front of my pontoon.
can be viewed at minkotamotors dot com.

i am using a motor guide WP45 wireless, just loosen a twist knob, and lift off, it also has a very nice cover plate. i have one mount on both boats, so i can swap the motor from one boat to the other.

That is the one I use as well. It works well, the only downfall is that it casts about 100 bucks.
