Re: trolling motor
Leafs,<br />You said you are looking at a transom mounted trolling motor, my question to you is which end of the boat do you fish from? Most people like to fish from the front, if you do you would be moving back and forth quite a bit. Also most of us have found that a bow mounted trolling motor will hold better when facing into the wind. I'm not sure what the rating is on the one you are looking at, but would suggest at least a 30 to 36 minimum rating. Also try and go with a 12 volt versus a 24 or 36 volt system as they require more voltage (batteries) in the boat as you did say its a 14 foot boat. Almost all the new boats are being setup with a foot mounted contol, I still like the manual or hand control on my minn kota. I am better able to control the boat and stay better balanced than standing on one foot while using the other to maintain the trolling motor. Hope some of this is helpful.
