Trolling plate on Volvo outdrive

I'm an avid fisherman and the new boat I just bought simply goes to fast for trolling. A buddy gave me a trolling plate off an old Merc. I have a 2007 VP (sorry, don't have the model number handy). I'd like to come up with some sort of system that accomplishes the following:

1. No drilling of holes in the lower unit.

2. Quickly removable when finished fishing.

Has anyone here ever played around with something like this on another similar drive? Or, does anyone here have any cool ideas on how to do it?

I had a drop plate on my old Merc and it worked great, but I didn't have a warranty to worry about then.

Two foot wide Pilot Chute, 10-20 bucks on e-bay or 5 gallon bucket with a few holes drilled for adjustable drag, free at McDonald's, 20 feet of rope and a strong cleat. Throw the "sea anchor" off the back and pull it in when your done. The pilot chute will fold for easy storage, the bucket......won't. ;) When the "new" wears off your drive then start drilling holes. My drive is 18 years old and I still don't drill holes in it. Just doesn't seem right.

Ayuh,........ I run Drift Socks,.... Big 1s,... 1 on each side.....
Only I attach mine to the forward cleat,+ keep them up beside the hull.....
