Hi, looking at 27-29' express cruiser type boats that will be for cruising and some fishing. need to troll at 1-2 mph and i'm wondering what's required for that in this size boat. This boat will have I/O engine(s), either one big block or maybe twin small blocks - Mercruiser or VP. Here's my questions:

1. If twin engines, can one be used to troll and achieve that slow speed without putting undue strain on the engine (maybe doesn't "like" to run that low of rpm?)?

2. If a seperate trolling motor is needed, about what is the cost for this(VERY approx.)? I guess it would have to be remote opertation.

3. I've heard of "trolling bags" but not sure how inconvenient that is?

Thanks

sure you can troll with one engine. if too fast, you can also back troll. but not really advisable. trolling bad is just a sea anchor, which you should have aboard anyway.

I would imagine a boat that size will have some big trim tabs. Put them all the way down for some additional drag/breaking while trolling.
