Yup.

76 in a 55.

On the way home from work, 8:07am on Route 42 South. I had the pickup truck because I had to pickup a bathtub and it wouldn't fit on the back seat of the bike.

Came over a hill, saw him, looked down, saw I was doing somewhere around 75, but the guy to my left was passing me so I thought I was fine.

He pulled out. So I slapped on the seat belt just in case.

Guy to my left keeps on cruising. Trooper gets behind me and the lights come on.

Pulled over, gave him the docs, he says he 'originally' got me at 76 in a 55. I didn't argue. He asked where I was heading, I said I was coming home from work. Asked where I worked, I said philadelphia. He said 'Let me check out a few things and I'll have you on your way."

Comes back 2 minutes later, says to slow it down and have a nice day.

Must have gotten some that morning.

My lucky day I guess. I sure as hell didn't need the ticket.

Re: Trooper Got Me

i was pulled by a locale police officer on Sunday going to work, i had my uniform on and my gold badges. i was running late and was 52 in a 35 and i thought im going to get the big one. i rolled down the window and he said wheres the fire? i just busted out laughing! i couldn't help it. anyways i told him i understand if you have to give me a ticket i didn't want any prof; couretsy and he just said slow down. your shift is not starting out so good. i agreed! he let me go, i just thought to myself hes right i need to slow down a bit and my 24 hour shift went really smooth. anyways thought id just add that to this post. some cops are just flat out nice. all the dealings ive had usually if you treat them nice and with respect they will do the same to you.now for troopers here in tn. if you get pulled over for something your going to get a ticket, they dont have any tolerance on speeding and will give there mom a ticket, thats my observations.

I've probably been pulled over a dozen times. Every cop was cool about it.

One time I was doing 85 in a 55 (feeder road). I got a warning cause the cop didnt have a radar gun, he just paced me.

Ken

I got pulled over on my 17th bday, driving like 60 in a 35 on a local back road.

Cop get my license, goes back to his car, then a pickup FLYS by doing about 80..... he runs up, tosses the license back in my window, yells "happy birthday" and smokes the tires going after the other guy.

Good days do happen :)

Re: Trooper Got Me

Ive gotten stopped twice so far....

1) 52 in a 35, written warning. no big deal.
2) 80 in a 55, verbal warning.

Still not sure how I acomplished either one of those. The first one was at 1am, the othe was at 2am. I wouldve thought they have plenty of time then to write me a ticket.........I wont complain about it though.

Re: Trooper Got Me

Had a MS Trooper pull me over one afternoon. I was headed to see a friend. I topped a hill and met him. I was running 63 in a 55, he caught me fair and square. The guy had abviously just come on duty cause his uniform was crisp and he smelled like he had just taken a swim in his pool of Brut cologne.

Instead of circling around behind my truck and stopping, he just pulls head on to my truck and gets out of his car. He asked me to step out of the truck which I did and gave him my license and such. Just as he starts to write the ticket I looked up and saw that his car had jumped in gear and was about to pin both of us in between our vehicles. I grabbed him by the arm to pull him back all the time trying to say "Your car is coming at us" but I couldn't get it out. He snatched back and went for his gun about the time his car crashed in to my truck. He didnt pull his gun on me...thank god....but he called it in and after that he threw his ticket book on the hood of his car, looked at me and said "I dont guess I can give you a ticket now..can I? I told him that it was his job, to do what he though he needed to do.....he let me go but never said thank you for getting him out of the way of his car.

BTW, the front bumper of my truck just cleared his bumper and it really trashed the front of his cruiser. :D

Was radar "gunned" at 115mpg on my bike (not my current KLR650) at 2am on US60 in Apache Junction once.... that Hwy Patrolman never seemed to have found me, strange that.

Re: Trooper Got Me

"I dont guess I can give you a ticket now..can I?" LOL ef :D :D

Troopers here always say "Good afternoon [morning/evening] Mr. [Ms.] Nibbles, is there any reason for you to be speeding this afternoon?"

The wife tells me the correct answer is [first, undo your top two buttons] "My momma's in [sniff] the hospital [wipe tears from eyes] in Lufkin & I haven't [sniff] seen her in six months [sniff]...."

I've never got out of a ticket, but sometimes when you're caught speeding with expired registration or inspection they'll give you a ticket for those instead, just a few bucks court costs & no moving violation.

Great story ef, you probably saved his life.

And yes, a thank you would have been nice but he was probably in a hurry to get back home and change his drawers. :D

I actually got to know the guy after that... he had to get of the force for health reasons...he sorta slipped in to obscurity, got in to the biker scene and got in a bar fight in Pickens, MS and a woman jumped on his back and bit his ear off! LOLOL...his nickname was Blade Davis, he got it for pullin a knife on his sunday school teacher when he was a teenager.

Re: Trooper Got Me

I got pulled over a month back or so by a TX state trooper. I was riding my motorcycle out of our subdivision up at the lake (small, small community) and he pulled me over for not wearing my helmet. I didn't know TX changed the helmet law. You have to either have taken a motorcycle safety course or have proof of 10K insurance for no helmet. Tags on bike were good, inspection was good, my motorcycle driving license was good...told me to wait a minute would be painless...sure enough, just a written warning. Luckily he rode Harley's and wanted to make sure I wore my helmet!

got lucky on that one!
