I have 2007 Polar Kraft with an Evinrude E-Tec 60 on it and after I troll around for awhile I try to throttle up and sometimes it will spit and sputter and go and sometimes it wont go at all and wants to die. I had a update done last year because the shop said that evinrude did one for a dead spot around 1600 rpms but now i have a bad spot around 2500 rpms and this idling problem. I checked my vent on top of my fuel cap and that seems loose like it is supposed to be. I can run wide open all day and no probs. Any ideas? Thanx.

It sounds like you are running rich and the motor is "loading up" depending on how bad, it can be a real pain to get the revs up to clear it out. Did this start after the upgrade? Software upgrades can cause as many problems as they fix.

Yes this did start after the upgrade. It was also to cure the problem with the sensors reading the oil level wrong. I would have 7/8 of a tank of oil left and the motor would go into safe mode and the warning lights would come on saying no oil. But the tank was just about full. i like to do alot of trolling because i go for big lake trout.

Any chance of pulling the plugs and taking a look when it's acting up? It might be kinda hard unless you're near a dock.

Re: trouble after trolling

The oil problem was fixed with the upgrade. They also replaced a leaking base gasket and changed the oil pump just to be sure. Now i have this problem after trolling. The E-Tecs are just so hard to get worked on because they have to hook it up to the computer then send all the info to evinrude and wait for them to reply on what to do.
