Trouble finding the right flywheel/starter combination; also fuel pump

I've had my boat in the shop for quite a while getting essentially restored and it's ready for the engine to be reinstalled. My old one had a cracked exhaust manifold which allowed sea water into the cylinders and so it had to be trashed. I found a "new" long block GM Mercruiser last winter that was still in the shrink wrap whose owner had bought it and then found he didn't need it. It appeared to be in excellent condition although it had been stored for about 5 years. It was advertised as a 3.0 liter 130 HP Mercruiser engine. Supposedly it was obtained from Michigan Motorworks although there is no plate on the block to suggest that. Michigan MW doesn't have any record of sales that far back.

Here's the issue(s): 1) we are having a lot of trouble finding a starter and flywhel that both fit on the engine and work together. Some of the stuff I've found on the internet suggests it takes a 12 3/4" flywheel, but the one we tried has too large a hole in the center. The one that does the crankshaft hole perfectly is a 14" flywheel, but then we can't find a starter with the mounting holes in the right places. They need to be directly opposite one another rather than on a diagonal. So that's one issue.

The second issue is finding a fuel pump that will physically fit onto the block. The recommended one, a Carter 18-7282, has too short an arm to reach inside the engine before the lip on the block bumps up against it. You can't seat it on the block. The arm on the 18-7282 appears to be 3" from the outside dimension to the inner surface of its flange and it needs about another 1/2" to provide adequate clearance.Carter FP.jpg

The markings on the block are : 14097080 - 189 97
GM HECHO MEXICO

Anybody got any ideas? I'm assuming this is a 1997 built engine but I can't be sure.

Ayuh,.... You have a 12" flywheel for a 2 pc. rear main seal,....

You Need a flywheel that's 12", for a 1 pc. rear main seal,... a Later model flywheel...
