I have a 1984 Johnson 70hp and the tag with the model number has been removed. I can get numbers off the block/carbs, but can these be cross-referenced to find out which model I have? I'm trying to rebuild, but difficult w/o model #. Thanks for any help.

What are the numbers you have? What are you looking for? The gasket set is the same from the early 70's to 1985 and the pistons were the same from 1976.

Hope that helps! Good luck!

Re: trouble getting model number

I think I know what you mean. Try this link and 'create' your own model number. You don't have to read or speak swedish. :)
http://www.marinshopen.se/guide/omc/omc8098.htm

Look at the model number V E 70 TL ED A and you will get the picture.

If it reads KS (Kerosene Rope Start) you have a rare model or didn't quite get it. :D

Get back if it didn't work out.

/Bear

Thanks Bear! That worked perfectly. I've ordered all parts, and now lets just hope I hook all the electrical stuff back up correctly.

Thanks again!
