I have a 88 Sea Ray Seville Alpha one Gen 1 that I just replaced all the bellows and Gimbal Bearing and am in the process of replacing the lower shift cable and outer jacket. The problem I am having is that I have routed the outer jacket up to the engine (not connected yet). When I attempt to thread it in with the socket the whole cable is turning and is twisting the bellow and hangs up on the engine. There must be something I am not doing right?

need someone on inside rotating cable and unbinding as you turn in. put a little dish soap on bellow to help it rotate in it. make sure to put thread sealant on threads. to prevent leak and also protect threads so you can get it apart next time!

Don't route the cable up in position as yet, just let it lay straight out as much as possible. Then when cable turns it will just spin

After its tight, then route the cable to shift plate
