I have a 21 foot Scorpion offshore with a 1981 mercury V-225. I am currently running a Mirage plus 3 blade 23 pitch it runs at 6000rpm 60mph. I tried a Trophy 4 blade 25 pitch it brought the rs down to 5300 but no increase in top end. Any help in setting up this combo would be much appreciated.

Re: trouble matching best prop

Im sure no expert but I would think a 21 footer getting 60 mph would be pretty darn good.
As I understand it a 4 blade helps hole shot and
load pushing not top end. I read an artical the other day that the most efficient design is a 2 blade and next a 3 blade. Most of the props you see
are 3 blade so it would seem they must give the best overall performance.
If you are looking for speed only, surf a little
bit using key words like outboard speed prop,
and such. Just keep in mind a high speed prop
will lack hole shot and load pushing ability.
There is a prop called the torque shift you can
see it at www.land-and-see.com/marine/torque-shift
there is a pretty amazing video.Ive heard it has
problems in dirty water and it is very pricey.
but has termendous hole shot with excellent top end! It actually shifts.
