So i have a 1990 60hp vro that wont fire. After reading some post/replies I started at the emergency kill switch and referenced Clymer manual. The manual said to pull the 5 wire connector to the power pack. I located the connector and it has the same configuration that the pic in the manual shows BUT there is no wire going to the E terminal that they want me to connect the red lead of my tester to? There are only 4 wires. Im pretty sure its not the coil plug because that is the same configuration as the manual shows.

Find the black/yellow wire coming from the pulse pack and disconnect that. If you have spark then, you have a boat prob. If not you have a mtr prob. Then take that Clymer manual and turn it into toilet paper and get the oem factory service manual.

Thanks,
I do have spark (weak) so it looks like a switch problem. I dont want to use my toilet paper any more so until I can get the oem manual whats my next step?

Re: Trouble shooting ignition problem

Your spark must jump a 7/16 " open air gap on a spark tester. Fix that first. Go to cdielectronics.com for trouble shooting procedures.
