I am rebuilding a 6HP johnson model cd-23 (1965?)
There is a 115 lb compression reading in each cylinder.
The engine turns over smoothly.
There is a good spark at each plug.
The float bowl is full of fuel and the main jet seems to be clear. I took it apart and blew it out with air.
After pull starting a number of times and pulling the plugs, they are nether wet, nor do i detect any trace of fuel.
The engine won't even burble. :p
I am so close to success that i can almost feel it! I have tommorow off, so if anybody has any suggestions, I could be running soon!

Did you try squirting fuel in carb throat ?? If it fires up you will know for sure the lack of fuel is the problem. Never had a 6 apart, but is there any possibility of putting reeds wrong way in ? Does it breethe through carb throat ?? Try with your hand.

Your model is 1966. If you close that lean-rich needle too much, you won't get any fuel at idle setting. Try opening it 1.5 turns counter-clockwise from a gentle seating.
