Have a Honda 4 stroke 90hp, not sure of year but somewhere between 1996-1998 and when go to start it after priming bulb it will not start. You can here it like it wants to turn over, but doesn't. If I try 7 or more times there is a slight chance it might start, but the wires start to get hot so I stop and give up. Any ideas what the problem can be?

Your post isn't clear.
Does it crank? Or does it just try?

you have corroded wires or a bad starter motor since the wires get hot

Sorry if not clear

When you attempt to start it, it sounds like it wants to crank but it will not turn over. After several attempts the negative battery wire will get hot. Sometimes after about 7 attempts it will start, but more often it will not

hopefully this is a little more clearer and thanks for help

how can I rule out one or the other? The battery cable looks good, although in the past it has melted some down (6-8 inches) because trying to start it. Respliced it and looked good, put a stronger battery on also
