hey guys I recently bought a 1999 Merc 125 hp outboard. so far 3 times while running it I have run out of gas on my first tank. I switched tanks prime to the bulb choke it and try and restart it. each time I have had a lot of trouble getting it to start and have had to lift the warm up lever all the way and crank it numerous times. sometimes for fairly long cranks maybe 15 second. it even seems like it might be flooded or something it will crank and then kick like it wants to start but won't. eventually I manage to get it started again but at first it is not running right doesn't sound right like it is at half power or not getting enough gas or something and will stall if I lower the warm up Lever . If I keep the lever up it will run like this for a few minutes and then kind of roar back to life and start to run normally again. I am wondering if this is a problem with the outboard or just the result of air getting in the line when I run out of gas. I have not had this problem with other motors I have onde sometimes they took a few cranks after running them dry but never experienced anything like this. Can anyone give me a heads up as to what it might be? as a side note I recently noticed a small amount of gas leaking from the hose at the bottom of my fuel filter. I have replaced it and am not sure if this may have been a contributor in some way although I doubt it is the whole problem. Thanks in advance for any help James
