trouble with electric choke on 75hp brownband

When i push my key in, i get nothing. I should be getting a "click" noise, which engages the choke solenoid. Now, i noticed that there is no connection to the key switch leading back to the choke solenoid. All i found was a snipped yellow wth black stripe tapped off to the block leading no where. I tried directly linking a length of wire from the end of the wire that was taped off, to the key switch. AND NOTHING IS THERE SOMETHING IM DOING WRONG? DOES IT HAVE TO LINK SOMEWHERE FIRST, SUCH AS A RECTIFIER/ SWITCH PANNEL??

ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT. IM ON THE WATER FRIDAY, AND DON'T FEEL LIKE HOLDING MY HAND OVER THE CARBS.

that wire should go to the solenoid and if that dont work i drilled a small hole throw the top cover with s.s. wire to the choke so i could pull it up to choke it.it works fine for a quick fix.
