Friends, i posted on another thread earlier today. To recap - took 1972 Johnson to mechanic who did pressure check. Redid carbs, coil, cables, etc. Motor fires up and runs well at half throttle but dies if we go up or back on throttle. Ran poorly so we took it back. Cable had snapped and was supposedly fixed. Took boat out yesterday and same issue with throttle. At this time I want to try a few obvious things before we haul the boat back to this mechanic.
How important is it that the priming bulb be in an upright vertical position? Ours is horizontal. I noticed a very frayed wire but dont know what it is. See photo. I talked to an old mechanic that my Dad used years ago and he said to try some 2+1 additive. We were told when we picked boat up the 1st time that theyd put non ethanol gas in the new tank. I appreciate any and all suggestions. Sorry photo size is too large.
