Re: TroubleShooting/Eagle/Fishmark320

I have the fishmark320 and have had no problems It's on a 24' Glastron with a separate depthfinder and seems to be accurate. The shallowest water I'm in is at the slip, 7 ft.

John

I've also got the same model and it works in as shallow as 4.5' for me. at least, that's as shallow as I have been. I fish over rolling humps 4-15 ft for a while and it does just fine. when I go back over the channel, it automatically adjusts like it's 'sposed to. Wish I could be more help, just wanted to let you know that it's not endemic to the model. You may just have to call the support people, unless someone else on here has a better idea.

Welcome to the forum, BTW.

I have the same model with no problems. I can get it to read in 1-2 ft. I would really check your mounting on the transom. Over half of the transducer is below the waterline on mine while underway at speed.
Make sure it's level, right depth, and it may take a bit of adjustment to get it work right.
I have had mine go haywire a couple times at full speed but it always picks up the depth again.
Dman

BassBait I have worked on several 320 fishmarks.
The Eagle 320 is a good unit and built well.
I have seen the problem you are having before,
its very common if you have two depthfinders of the same brand on your boat. It is caused by crosstalk between the units you would have to relocate one of the transducers to a new location. If you only have one unit it is being caused by harmonics of the ping signal. Go to the unit and turn the sensitivity down.
Press menu twice, select I think is a transducer option or a ping option and make the adjustment from there. You may need to turn the unit off and back on after the adjustment but it should work good after that. If you still have trouble check the transducer cable for cuts ect. If the cable is bad the signal will short from send to the return. You may need to repair it. Let me know and I can help you with that. Dan:)

Re: TroubleShooting/Eagle/Fishmark320

I have 2 eagle 320's on my 18 foot aluminum boat. One is the regular 320, the other one with the gps feature. The GPS 320 is located by the steering wheel with the transducer at the right rear of the boat. The other one 320 is at the front of the boat next to the trolling motor and the transducer is on the trolling motor. Frequently when I get in shallow water and both are on I will get it reading around 300 or so feet. This is all in less than 2 feet of water, sometimes so shallow that I bottom out the boat/trolling motor. The best/only way I know of is to just turn it back off and on or leave the rear on off. I just assume that it's mixed signals or something of the sort.

Thanks for the info Dan!

MICHAELJ1978
You have the exactly the same setup as I do. I really like the gps 320, its really cool. You may need to adjust the sensitivity down to get rid of the echos. In water that shallow they are not doing you much good anyhow. Good luck.
Dan:)

I'll have to double check, but I think I keep the sensitivity in the 60-70% range. I'll look again and play around with them next time I get on the water. And yes, they are great finders, much better than the old hummingbird I had on there.

Re: TroubleShooting/Eagle/Fishmark320

Dan, Thanks for the info.my 320 works fine until I get into 4 foot or less and than jumps to deep readings then it will stay there even after getting back into deeper water. I was able to get it back by turning it off and restarting it but its getting to where that only works sometimes. I have a second finder its a lowrance that came with the boat but its a transom mount and the 320 Ive mounted on the trolling motor. Ive also ran it alone and it still will do the same. Im going to look for any problems with the cable thanks.....BassBait

Re: TroubleShooting/Eagle/Fishmark320

BassBait,
The problem you are having is being caused by an intermittent return of the ping signal. The head interpts the missing pings very deep water.
The 320 uses a 200HZ transducer and to check it you will need to use an ohm meter. If you have one, Set it on the Rx10 scale and pull the transducer cable off the back of the unit.
Get two paper clips and bend them around each lead leaving one end of the clip straight out.

With the flat side of the plug facing down you will see 6 holes
3
2 4
1 6 5

Pin 1= temp return
Pin 2= + power
Pin 3= temp supply
Pin 4= - power ground
Pin 5= Transducer +
Pin 6= Transducer Return

You should see a resistance between 5 and 6 that should not change as you move the cable around if it does you need to replace the cable.
You can also check the temp sensor by measuring between pins 3 and 1, while watching the meter have someone put there hand on the bottom of the transducer, the resistance should go up or down on the meter as its temp changes. If you have a bad cable sometimes you can locate the bad area by bending it slowly every inch or so. If you find the area you will need to cut that area out and splice it back togeather. Always use solder and heat shrink tubing for this and never splice an area below the water line.
Good luck Dan :0)
