I have a 2002 Yamaha 60hp 4-stroke on which the analog tach has completely stopped working. I'm not the most mechanically-inclined guy, but I'd like to figure out the problem and fix it myself - if I can.
I've searched the Forum but can't find anything specific enough to tell me what troubleshooting steps to take. The wiring at the instrument is pretty obvious, but I have no idea how it works at the engine.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
By the way, this is my first post here. I just found the site and I'm looking forward to enjoying it for a long time. The information is tremendous and the members seem very willing to share their expertise.
