I recently sent my truck off to be painted and while its gone I thought i would set in and polish up the truck box and the alum bed rail edge liners, all diamond plate. So far it isnt bad I am using the mothers alum polish and a electric buffer lol but I am rembering why I havnt done this in like 5 years. I may try to find some shark hide when its done.

Re: truck box

Sounds like fun James. I got some things that need polished if you want to get in some practice. :D

I was down your way yesterday. The wife and I took the jon boat down to Beach Fork and did a little fishing. Didn't catch anything but a slight case of sunburn though. LOL

We were going to go out on the Elk River but with all the rain we had, it was nasty and swift. We ended up at Beach Fork for a couple of hours. We putted out in the lake with the trolling motor. I got home that evening and went and bought a little 7.5 hp Gamefisher motor for the jon boat. We may try to take it out again next week, weather permitting.

I defiantly give that a shot I have a travel America close by. The mothers was doing the job but slowly so today I dropped by harbor freight and got a buffing wheel to put on my grinder and some polishing compound and thats doing it nicely , the box is around 8 years old and has never been polished out so its nasty.

Re: truck box

lolol OK yea yea I will take some pictures. And yes I do have a lot of free time I got shoved out the door into retirement about 3 years ago and now that I have got my boat about where I want for this year (is it ever done ) so I am fixing up my old truck cause I am to cheep to buy a new one. Its a old 97, S 10 with 190 K miles, and it runs just fine and I expect to get at least another 80 k on it and if you really want the list , its a new midnight blue paint job ( dont have a before pic of the truck it was butt ugly black peeling paint ), new vinyl floor may instead of carpet, the seats were redone last year when I set it up to tow my toon along with a rear gear swap from a 3.73 to a 4.10 and a power chip implant on the 2.2 ,4 cylinder that brought it from 118 hp to 180 and 4 wheel disk breaks for stopping power and I am still getting 22 mph :D draging a 20 foot toon at 60 to 65

And back to the project at hand the buffing wheel and the stick polishing compound is doing the trick I spent about 2 hours on the box this evening and about hafe of it back to a mirrow finish. I am sort of working my way through this as a experiment on this comming winters project of polishing my logs :D

I did find a trick this evening it is a lot easer to polish out the diamond plate in rows at the same angle and not trying to swap it back and fourth and work it about 1 foot sections at a time and 1 row at a time.

Re: truck box

Due to circumstances beyond my control I didn't get a lot done today my morning started off with the wife at 8 am waking me up with a fresh cup in her hand saying Its looks like its gonna be a nice day why don't we go out to the boat and stop some place and get breakfast to go. And while I don't always have the best ideas I know a good one when I hear it. So 45 :D minutes later I was on the boat with a nice Tudors sausage, bisket and gravy breakfast. Got back around 1 pm and did a bit of work and yes I took a few pictures.

Re: truck box

Sounds like you started the day off right. Can't go wrong with a Tudor's bisquet. LOL. Wife brought me one from Suzie's when she came home from work this morning. Don't know if you've ever had breakfast there, but it is good. If you have not, and you ever find yourself in South Charleston in the morning, try them out.

The tool box looks good.
