I am currently viewing 2 boats. both have 305s, one has a volvo 225E, and one a merc drive. the drives dont really matter to me. basically the Merc has some work that needs done. the engine is fine and was just rebuilt bu thte drive has problems going into gear. new drive most likely if not cables is at most 1200 and i can install it. now the volvo is in perfect shape but its a 1986 and the guy wants 2500 for it. the guy with the arriva bayliner wants 1000-1250. I am very handy and have dealt with a bunch of merc drives before they dont scare me. i have owned many boats also. but the arriva is a 1989 with all new interior also. i am stumped. i dunno if i should just go with the ready to go boat and risk it dying cause its older or have the nice 89 and sink some more money to get it moving properly. any help or out look is appreciated.
