trying to decide, repair or city dump

i have a 95 procraft v220b bassboat. overall it is a nice looking boat. well i noticed today that my transom is weak and cracking.it is bad enough that i can push down on the cavitation plate and watch the transom flex. it was suposedly replaced a few years ago, whoever did it only removed about the back 3 foot of the upper cap instead of pulling the whole cap. so it had started cracking back open where they glassed the cap section back together. what i am really thinking about is replacing the wood with seacast or with nidabond transom repair. does anyone have the chart to figure out how much product it would take to fill the transom void up using either of these. i think seacast has a chart on their site, but when i try to pull it up, is says i dont have the right software to view it. any help would be appreciated.

I did not have any trouble pulling it up with Windows IE8. FYI, it is an Excel worksheet. Good luck!

You need either Open Office which is free online to view it or you can download an excel viewer for free as well.

I am using Seacast in my transom right now as well. Their calculator is a little off I think as I was short a few gallons for my pour. I have been told no problem with 2 seperate pours as well. They are a great help!

Let me tell you this as well. Seacast is SOLID! Just make sure your prep is done right. Clean up good and clean some more.

Before you encounter sticker shock with the seacast or nidabond calculations vs cost..........

I would investigate further. I had a Procraft split from stem to stern during rough water...... I have no faith in their construction but that is a personal opinion. Check out the stringer's too......

If the transom was replaced (and a poor job) chances are the stringer's were overlooked.

Having a solid transom is only part of the equation If you establish the transom AND the stringer's are trashed I would go with plywood and do them both at the same time.
