Trying to find Wizard parts

I am trying to find a carb rebuild kit for a relative for a vintage super 10hp wizard. 802-419 are the only numbers we can get off of this motor.

Is there a website that has parts for these motors?
Are parts still available?

The old motor will run with the aid of gas being poured into the carbs but it starves for gas without it then dies.

Most old Wizards are Mercs in Western Auto clothing. Surf to www.oldmercs.com and cross reference the super 10 to its corresponding Merc model. Sound like the carb jets are gummed up. Very easy carbs to rebuild. Pull it, take it apart, soak overnight in carb cleaner, blow out the orifices next day with compressed air, put it back together, install and it shoud run. You can make new gaskets from gasket material at auto parts stores. OldMercs may have a carb kit.

Interesting post Tmcalavy. I was thinking about telling them to make there own gaskets at one point, would be better if there was anything left of the old gasket to have as a tamplet. It has been a while sense I seen any site that had old outboard parts, besides aomci.org. I don't know if you are talking about the username on iboats "Oldmerc", I figured you are. The worst thing is, being that I might half to cross reference these numbers I will half to find out the year of the motor.

I was just thinking about something, is that motor a gravity feed or is it supposed to be hooked to a bubble fuel line?

Thanks for the reply.

Old Mercs.com is a website that specializes in well, old Mercs...not an iboats user name. If it has a gas tank on top, it's gravity feed through a simple copper gas line right to the carb. Maybe someone else can date your Wizard.

You can tap out a gasket using something shaped like a tiny balpein hammer
cut your gasket out by tapping against it on the gasket mounting surface of the carb. With the proper tool(s) you can cut holes and everthing.Cut holes first and use bolts to hold it in place.
There is a site for Merc built Wizards I believe linked from Old Mercs.com.
That is a fast little motor faster than most other 10s of the time.

Thanks for all the info eveybody. This is for a relative this isn't for me. Although I might be trying to get one if it is still available later on down the road.

He happens to have 2 or 3 of them Wizards around, all within the same year and hp. Only one of them has attempted to run.

Re: Trying to find Wizard parts

Bump.

I found out that the model number on this motor is WM7A, Serial number is 920269. Turns out that it is a 1956 or 57 model.

The confusing part is that I looked on this website here

and it shows PU-MARK25 or LU-KG7 in the note area besides the wizard model number, now I don't know which number to go by when looking on oldmerc.com for parts. I can find KG7 and Mark25 parts but which do I need.

I am helping him with this motor, we did have it running today but it seems to be running hot.

Try this link.

http://www.wizardoutboardforum.com/

There is a forum there you can ask any question you desire about that gem. They will be able to answer you. Jason is a member of AOMCI, but that is one of his personal sites. Good engine, wish I had one :)

Otay, according to oldmercs.com the WM7A Wizard has a Mark 25 powerhead mated to a KG7 lower unit. Several places will have parts for both.

Re: Trying to find Wizard parts

Alright, I sorta of figured it out last night when I scrolled down to the bottom and looked closer at the one website.

Tallcar and Tmcalavy thanks for the help. I've already made a parts list for him on nearly all the replacement parts available.
