Trying to get id, model numbers, for a new to me boat.

Hi everyone. Thanking you all in advance. This is my first stern drive boat. I have tried to go through the forums and do this myself, but there just seems to be so much info, not all of it clear. Here is what i have. Mercruiser-470. H.P.-170. C.I.D.-224. Max.WOT RPM-3800-4200. I.D. numbers i have found: Top of leg-5774240. Engine numbers on manifold:71527 & 3189. On the rear upper manifold: 76325. Is this an Alpha engine? What type of manuals should i be looking for? Any numbers that pertain to the motor etc, i need for parts ordering etc? Any help is awsome. If there is any other info (pics) that i need to provide for answers, just ask. Thanks again, Ray-Alberta Canada Boater.

Thanks for the help Bond-o :facepalm:. would anyone else like to chime in, maybe a little help on manual numbers? When looking for parts, seems to be i need more info, numbers etc. Is it an Alpha, Gen 1? Again any help is appreciated. Thanks, Ray.

Kind of hard to give you manual numbers without knowing what 470 you have.
What's the Merc serial number of your engine?

Thanks Don, just what i needed. I am at work right now, but will look for the info you need as soon as i get home. Will try to send a pic or two as well. You really seem to have a handle on the marine stuff, must say wish i knew a little more. Time and Experience, i guess. Thanks again, Ray.
