tube by dip stick

i just noticed a steel tube coming from the bottom of my 3.0 liter motor.by the oil dip stick.it has a cap on it.i took the cap off and it looked to have water hoes threads.what is this tube used for.the boat is a 88 bayliner with the cobra outdrive and a 3,0 liter engine

I believe you hook a pump to it to remove the oil, mine was like that, but it was the actual dip stick tube.

Yep, that's for draining the oil. You can attach a pump directly to it with a garden hose attachment. Many manual & electric pump kits are available right here on iboats.
