Tune up 1977 Lower Unit Metal Filings on drain plug

I have a 1977, 85 hp Evinrude motor. I was following the instructions on tune up of an unknown motor. I drained the lower unit oil and thought there was grease on the lower plug, but it is metal filings attached to the magnet. The picture shows them to be larger than they are. They all are just fillings nothing larger. They just stuck to each other in the picture.( see attached)

I know it's not normal but how serious is this? How hard is it to look at the gears?

Also on the tune up instructions, it said to test the spark with a spark guage. Where do you get a spark guage?

I read where you should take out the sparkplug and spray TCW-3 into the cylinders another said use Seafoam. Does it matter?

If the lube wasn't changed in a long time, it's not uncommon. If you're concerned, change it again after a few hours of run time and see what it looks like. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it at this point.
