Re: tune up specs

Well, I dunno the answer to your question for your 5.0. But I do suggest that you get an OEM service manual (not a Seloc or other aftermarket brand). You will need this manual to service your engine correctly and it will have the answer to all your questions you will have.

And another thing is, did you install a marine dizzy? If not you need to. The dizzy (amongst other items) HAS TO BE marine rated. And besides the whole marine rated explosion hazard thing your ESA which stumbles the engine so you can get it out of gear will NOT work unless you either get a new ESA or use one of the Delco dizzys and wire it like they have in theyre instruction manuals.

By the way though. On my 5.7 there are different timing settings depending on which type of gas you use. Mine is 8 BTDC for 89 octane and up and 2 BTDC for under 89 octane. FWIW

Re: tune up specs

Have you verified that the boat shifts ok with the ESA gone?

It needs to be in the water to verIfy that it will shift OUT OF gear.

Oh. Well the timing is probably not your biggest issue. Your engine has to stumble in order for you to pull it out of gear. If not you will break the shifter before you are able to get it out of gear.

So you need to find out of you can wire your dizzy where it will stumble your engine like the Delco EST does. If not you need a new dizzy that's compatible.
