Not a problem post, just some info. My 98' merc 25 always ran pretty good. A week ago I took it in for service and a tune up, and even though I thought it ran pretty well, it was a little sluggish....hard starting sometimes, and a little rough around the edges. Got it back and WOW! Touched the key and BAM!, started without even choking. Purred like a kitten. Merc Tech tore down and serviced the carb, new water pump (all components), new t-stat, lower unit service, and a link and sync. For $216.00 it was well worth the money and it runs better than it did new. Sometimes little problems that bug you from time to time are really bigger problems that are waiting to bite you at during the worst moments. I've always done the work myself but sometimes a trained Merc tech is what the motor really needs from time to time. And the merc techs really appreciate the work in times like these.
