Gents, I have a 1996-98 variant Motorguide 736 trolling motor on my fishing boat and it needs a little attention. I don't know a whole lot about trolling motors, however I would like to dial in some of the few issues that i have as they seem somewhat simple.
It is just a matter of finding the correct parts.
As you can see below, it looks like the shaft tension knob has broken off at some point and a buffer or sleeve of some sort has also begun to fail. When I move the boat with the trolling motor, it appears to jerk quite a bit, which tells me that it isn't as secure as it should be. The buffer or sleeve appears to be under the collar that goes around the shaft. not sure if that was something that someone put on there or something that came factory with the motor.
Any idea on where replacement parts can be purchased and or a line on a parts diagram? I have seen a few online, however nothing that dialed in this deep. maybe someone else out there has experienced a similar problem.
