Re: Turkey Seasoning

some jack daniels would do a good job, especially if ya mixed a little habanero hot sauce into it

or beer

dont inject melted butter or oil into it tho, the frying process does get oil into the turkey, even if you crank that oil to over 400, to sear it

375 ie a good temp tho, especially for peanut oil

Thanks, jgregory, You just gave me an idea where to go to get them. We have a large sporting goods shop in the next town. They have lots of seasonings there. I like the butter garlic idea. My mouth is watering as I type. Oh Boy, can't wait......SS

Re: Turkey Seasoning

Glad to be of help, enjoy and let me know how it turned out.

Just alittle FYI, While you can buy the marinades it can be just as much fun to make them yourself, I have alomost got the creole garlic butter and herb down.

1 stick butter
Garlic powder
Herbs I use almost whatever I have dried parsley, onion, basil, oregano, tyme all crushed mixed with butter and inject. I will aso add some Old Bay seasoning just to kick it up a knotch as Emeril would say. :D

This is more trial and error and tasting untill you come up with a concoction you like. :) :)

Topic moved to Dockside due to its non-technical nature.

My apologies for the inconvenience.

Can't beat a deep fried turkey for moistness. Hubby uses Tony Chachere's Cajun injector. It comes in lots of flavors. My favorite is the herb, butter, garlic one. It has a creole flavor. Yum :)

Hehehe, how dumb am I? When I first saw this thread, I thought it said "Turkey Season" and was expecting to see stories and comments about camoflage, bows, guns, etc. Geesh, what a dolt I am!
One word of caution about deep frying, if I may: Use caution when frying in the kitchen or your deck. I've heard stories of the hot oil bubbling over the fryer and catching fire when lowering the bird. Be careful out there!
Happy Turkey Day!
Brian

Re: Turkey Seasoning

Ya think I'm crazy? Doin it on the wood floor in the kitchen or deck? I'm going to do it in the basement, conrete floor ya know. Jokin! :D

This fryer has more warnings than a step ladder. Got a fire extinguisher, conrete slab about 50'from any structure. I work on commercial fryers, so I know how dangerous they can be. It's the grease level that is the critical part.

Thanks for the help and suggestions. It's gonna be good and cause SBN to gain weight. SS
