I am considering one of their props after I have read some positive things about their products but I still have a couple of questions?
First of which is, how much better of a hole shot would their Leagacy/Hustler 19 P aluminum prop be compared with my stock/OEM 19 P aluminum prop? From those that use/tried one, was it a night and day difference or only a slight change? I am running a 06 165F&S Lowe with a 07 90 Merc. 4 stroke and I am looking for a better holeshot and less cavitation.
I am also considering a Stiletto SS prop, are they heads above the competition or do they compare equally with most other SS prop manufacturer's? Thanks for your help........

Re: Turning Point props?

I just posted a review and the difference for me was excellent. The Legacy/Hustler props are cupped aluminum props and they are vented. You should get a better hole shot with them and they are cheap when compared to SS.

Thanks for the review, they sound like they are a great prop. I am wondering, based on your results if I should go with a 17P prop seeing as you dropped 2 sizes in pitch with yours? I am still curious how much better a 19P Turning point prop would be compared to my 19P stocker?.......Irv964

Re: Turning Point props?

It would blow your stocker away. The TP alum props are cast from molds that are typically designed for SS only. The props are cupped and vented. My motor runs smoother, sounds better, and I have better control over the boat. For $108 go for it.

All aluminum props in this class are cupped.....They don't build many "flat" props anymore...thing of the past.
I don't know what you have for a "stock" prop but I would be very hesitant to say a Hustler will blow it away.
Venting doesn't have near the effect due to the fact you have a 4-stroke...less exhaust through the prop.
Our experience with the Hustler has been in the middle, over-all..they have an "OK" hole-shot, but the more RPM you put to them, a few other aluminums begin to pass this one. Top-end..they just don't have it.
MWC has a design that performs better, Propco has one and Solas has 2.
You have a 4-stroke...it's going to do best with a prop with larger blade area....keep that in mind.

Re: Turning Point props?

I have an 04 xpress with a 90hp yamaha. I had a Power Tech 13.25 x 17p SS prop. I purchased a Hustler Turning Point 13.25 x 19 Al. and have had great results. My hole shot stayed about the same but I gained approx 3 mph and lost zero 0 RPM's. Sort of weird, but I was greatful. I am planning to purchase a 21p hustler since I lost no rpms going up two pitches, I figure I can go up two more with minimum loss of RPMs to keep me in the necessary WOT range. Good luck and they are very good aluminum props and I have been pleased.

Interesting info.....
Texasmark on these forums went to a Hustler, up 1" in pitch from his SS and LOST 6mph...at the same RPM.

Re: Turning Point props?

I've ordered a Hustler for a 115 Merc 4-stroke on a pontoon. I'll know soon, if it's worse or better than the one we lost to a floating log over the weekend. Obviously, being on a toon, I can't afford to lose any speed;)
