How is this brand liked? The new legacy series has the same blade design as their stainless steel props.... which has me interested. They claim 2mph-3mph increase over any aluminum prop while using the same exact dimensions... due to more aggressive cupping and pitch.

Since this isn't a "how do i prop my boat" question, i figured it's a general question. Mods please move if i am wrong.

Re: Turningpoint?

I hit a rock with my old aluminum prop last year which was a Solas and replaced it with a Turningpoint Legacy prop. I am very pleased with the prop overall. I?m not a prop guy by any means but the Turningpoint in my opinion is made very well. It feels heavier made and performs great. I couldn?t speak to any MPH gain really as my old prop was a 17p and I switched to a 19p with the Turningpoint while adding a set of Smart Tabs at the same time. My boats performance in planning time, WOT RPM and handling all improved when I made these two changes. If you?re considering the Turningpoint I?d say go for it.

Your planing time went down AND you increased pitch! Wow!

Im assuming when you say improved WOT RPM, you mean it went down, and that you were too high before?

I am interested too if anyone has experience with these props, I am looking at getting one and if they offer a realistic 2-3 mph that would be great.

Re: Turningpoint?

I?d contribute the improved planing to the Smart Tabs. The boat had a whale tail on it when I bought it which helped plane but caused the boat to lean heavy to the left. Taking the whale tail off solved the leaning problem but then it took forever to plane off. The Smart Tabs solved both problems. My biggest mistake was buying a boat with the 3.0 4 cylinder. My next boat will defiantly be V6 or V8. Yes the 17p I felt was to high in RPM for the load I normally have aboard, the 19p put me in the recommended RPM range I was comfortable with, around 4400.
