Anyone watch Call of the Wildman on Animal Planet. My wife got me watching this show several weeks ago. That guy is a stone cold nut. Guy catches everything from possums and racoons to turtles and snake bare handed.

That guy is a total nut job - there are 100 ways to catch everything that don't involve wrestling with a wild animal.

Steve Erwin had big ones too. Turtle Man so far seems for real but when it gets to be too apparent that the show is staged it becomes no more than an amature high school skit and I lose interest. Erwin didnt stage anything to look dangerious .He wanted it real and he was 100% for real and the dangers were 100% for real. A pity and The Turtle Man best be careful.

I like the one where he is trying to ambush a raccoon and it spots him so he rubs coon **** all over himself so it does not smell him and tackles the friggin thing. Ever hear of a live trap?

The show is a joke. Who wants to go frog gigging my way? As far as turtles I normally pick them up by the tail, last year was the first time I ever got bite, just below the knee by a 25lb snapper, 1/2 of him is still in the freezer waiting for a dinner, his nam is Jethro, I know people who hand pick them out of holes but I have grown attachet to my fingers.

I know all these "reality" shows have a lot of staged shots and setups in them, including Call of the Wildman. I just think he is a trip. To me, catching turtles by hand is not such a big feet, but grabbing a racoon or possum bare handed is just plain nuts. I just enjoy watching him. I figure eventually they will mess with the show and make it totally unbelievable. Until then, I'll enjoy watching me some "live action". LOL

Re: Turtleman

I think the turtle man is a great American. The show may be a little silly/staged sometimes, but HE is obviously real and has compassion for nuisance wildlife that most would just as soon shoot or otherwise kill. I have caught some large Snappers in my day and it's never easy or safe to handle them. I also once put a large Coon down w an axhandle after I hit it w my truck and broke it's back. It was trying to drag itself into the woods w it's front legs, as i approached it rolled on it's back, held its big paws out wide and growled as if to say "bring it". He was not phased at all by the first blow to his noggin and almost took the club from me!!

I enjoy the show for what it is and my 4 year old LOVES it. It gets a little staged but not too bad. We've got an infant in the house so we can't get real involved in too serious of shows so stuff like Call of the Wildman is just perfect.

I agree with the staged part, but it still is entertaining. I know I'd want more than a chicken for dancing with a raccoon.

The day I catch a raccoon bare handed, will be the day I take a deep breath and call myself a man.

I wonder if that is the same process the kids go through on Dooms Day Preppers?
