Tuy Hoa,<br />That was the nicest base I ever saw in Vietnam. I spent about 7 months there from around Oct 70 to May 71. I was there while in the Army, not the Air Force. The Air Force really knew how to treat their people, unlike the Army.

Hey guys, where whas Tuy Hoa? I was at Phan Rang air base from about the middle of 69' into early 70' before going to Tan Son Nut (spelling). I did some TDY's to Phu Kat and Cam Rohn Bay, and Da Nang. Shoot, we may have run over each other on the way to the bunker!!!!

Tuy Hoa is on the coast about half way between Da Nang and Saigon (Ho Chi Minh city). It's also about half way between Qui Nhan and Nha Trang, if that helps.

I was never in the military, but let me take a moment to thank all of you that had to endure that war (or any war for that matter).<br /><br />Some of us 'youngsters' appreciate all that you have done and sacrificed.<br /><br />Thanks,<br /><br />H.

MIKE F I was at Tuy Hoa until 31 Dec 70 one of about 30 Air Force people left to transfer everything over to the Army. I was in the Transportation Sqn and We turned the shops over to an Army truck Co. Warrant officer in charge signed for the buildings. We had same office for about a month then I moved to Cam Rahn Bay.

Clanton,<br />I believe I came in with one of the first groups of Army personnel. We came down from An Khe in a very large convoy. I had been with the Fourth Div. out of An Khe. I was in a recon platoon that became part of the security detail for Tuy Hoa. They, the 4th Div., got orders to go back to the states. If you didn't have something like 10 months in country, you didn't get to leave with them. They just brought in guys from other units, that had enough time there, to leave with them. Actually I made out great by being sent to Tuy Hoa, compared to where other people from the Fourth Div. were sent.

I was a weapons control mechanic with the 17th Special Ops Squadron. We flew the AC-119 gunships. This was the little brother to the AC-130 Specter and big brother to Puff. Maybe some of ya' seen my lumbering gunships flying low and slow tearing up realestate.<br />The years may have escaped up gonfishin.....but the memories remain. So many memories.
