Question, currently running a twin 40 yamaha 2 stroke set up on my 17 foot whaler and one engine is sick. Can I swap out the sick one with a 55 hp yamaha 2 stroke?

Re: twin HP mix

Physically you can, is the 55 HP CCW rotating as to have right one CW and left one CCW, not that big issue though if both are CW. You could limit the interior throttle of the 55 as to match the full throttle of the 40 HP at wot. Are both models near same min & max wot rpm parameters ? Are you using single or double Remote Control Boxes ?

I think I'd put the 55 on it and sell both 40's. That's a lot of iron hanging off the back of the boat. But if you don't have the 55 yet, go for a 70-90.
