"twin" outboards, ... ALMOST ... mismatched hp rating by 10-15% ???
I am proposing a twin set up with same basic motors, but they are set as different hp and i'm wondering out there has any experience, knowledge or advice on this.

example:

say I had a HONDA 135 and I found a great deal on a 150, and I wanted to set them up "twin". They are basically the same motor (weight and size etc) they are just computerized differently.

same would be for example Honda 115/130s

or Honda 135/150. (however on this one the 150 might be V-tec, the 135 not ?)

the motors are basically same and I wonder how much the power rating really IS different vs. "labelling" for marketing purposes. ... I've had twin 130s and twin 115s (same motor, different computer program) and I've not noticed any obvious great significant difference.

comments/advice please.

thanks

Twins In near slight close HP, won't feel any real difference. A 150 vs a 200 will make a difference. Left engine must be counterclowise rotation for straight course or boat will tend to veer right hand if having two engines with same standard rotation.

thanks ... I'd only do it with "same" motor combos. ie. the Honda 135/150 .... 115/130 ... in both cases, both "same" motors just different in computer programming. (as far as I know, that is only difference).

... I've had twin 130s that were counter-rotating/standard "pair" and twin 115s (again, essentially same motor) that were both standard rotation .... and I haven't noticed any difference. ... WITH HYDRAULIC steering. My understanding is that it is usually ok til 150hp+

It's like running a car with different tires...Dumb idea, but it doesn't mean it you can't do it.
