I just bought a 1987 Carver Montego 27ft I am looking at my boat I notice both props are the same. Meaning, they both appear to be right hand props.

I always assumed that twin screw boats have counter rotation props. Am I seeing this properly?

The guy I bought the boat from says they both turn the same way.

anyone have any input?

Yes, twin prop alpha drives should have one operate in counter rotation. Either the guy you bought it from replaced it and didn't want to pay the bill to get one counter rotation, or he didn't know any better.

Mercury started building CR Alpha's in '86-'87. Carver just probably put on what they had.

it seems to operate fine. Due to the leak I had I didn't operate the boat more than an hour but it seemed to be easy to dock and it steered perfectly straight without any need to correct my path like my old single screw that never drove straight unless you were on plane.
