Hey Everyone, I just got a boat...and here goes. My friend and I were taking off my lower unit on my 1985 90HP Johnson. he took a flathead screw driver and hit it w/ a hammer to try and get space to disengage the lower unit. (I know bad idea!) I stopped him before he could do more damage.

I ran the motor in the driveway and the two parts where the screwdriver was now spits out water out. Will this be an issue when I take my boat out on the water? Sorry if this is a dumb question...but here are some pictures provided. Thx Y'all.

 yer a friend did it. The same guy who took my carb to bits then lost the needle in the long grass.

No harm done :)

those marks wont make any difference at all..
but getting about 10 layers of paint of the gearbox might help.
i would definitely rub it down and re-spray it, the water inlets probably not getting what they should due to water flying
everywhere instead of a nice steady flow to the inlets.

no joke, clean that area up. get it smoothed out.
and clean that stainless prop too, terrible to see a sst looking like that,

Now go and stab your mate with the screwdriver.... then ask him if it hurts ?
when he says yes tell him
well dont hurt the engine :argue:

phill.......:)
