morning fellows, i have two six gallon tanks. coming back on the river from troy to albany sunday, the motor died as if one tank ran empty. i noticed the squeeze ball flatened out & i still had a good half tank left. strong current so i didn't have time to play around. when i switched tanks the ball filled up & everything went smooth. Q: what could cause the ball to go flat yet still have plenty of gas? i'm thinking a clog somewhere from inside the tank line or the male tip. how can i diagnose this?

Next: after the boat sits for a week, when i go to start it, she hesitates as if there is a bad battery connection. this ONLY happens the first time. once on the water after the initial start she fires right up! she contiues to fire whether it sits for an hour or evernight. but after sitting for a week it hesitates again. Q: could this be a bad connection or am i looking at the beginning of something worst?

thanks for any input & diagnostic suggestions - dave

First thing sounds like a vent problem. Not getting air!.Get yourself a backup squeezie and carry it with you. Second sounds like ALL the connections need to be cleaned.Jerry

1. Something in the fuel tank covers the inlet, restricting flow. once you switch to the other tank, no more vacuum holding object (?) against inlet, it falls off adrift in the tank until the next occurance.

2. Digital volt meter, check battery voltage after the week of no use, compare with re-check shortly after use. Battery may be internally faulted, loosing capacity/voltage, holds overnight but not more than a day or two before voltage falls off. Load test with a REAL VAT Carbon loadpile tester, these 'magic' box testers aren't worth their packaging.
